Seth & Alanna’s Engagement | Allerton Park, Monticello, IL | Engagement Photography

Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

I was so excited when Alanna messaged me and asked me about doing engagement pictures for her and Seth! I took Alanna’s senior photos just a few years ago when I was still really new to the photography business so you can imagine how excited I am to be doing her engagement photos! It makes me absolutely giddy watching my clients grow up!

I met Seth and Alanna at Allerton Park in Monticello, which is always an amazing place for photos. The weather was absolutely perfect and we enjoyed walking through the park as we looked for the perfect spots to take photos. Alanna and Seth are country kids. They like pickup trucks, cowboy boots, bacon, dogs, and country music. These two actually met while Alanna was volunteering at the local pet shelter Homeward Bound. Seth ended up rescuing Jacob, a black lab mutt, which Alanna continued to claim was her dog ;) . The two continued to talk and the rest is history.

I’ve been dying to share this gorgeous couple with all of you – so take a gander at these two cuties! :)

A Peek at Mike & Marcy’s Wedding Album

Monday, December 19th, 2011

So I thought that I’d show you all a sneak peek of Mike & Marcy’s Wedding Album!  I always have albums sent to the studio so I can make sure they are printed correctly and everything is in order. Albums and Books are my absolutely FAVORITE products to sell! I strive to tell your story when I’m shooting your session or wedding day – so what better way to convey your story than in book form!

Mike and Marcy ordered a Basic 10″x10″ album with 10 pages. For the small Chicago wedding that was more than enough pages to tell the story of their wedding day and include a bunch of their favorite images. :) So here’s a glimpse at Mike and Marcy’s album:

Kyle & Mackinzey Price Wedding | Decatur, IL | Wedding Photography

Monday, December 5th, 2011

It was a calm, chilly Friday in November as Ryan and I headed to our last wedding of 2011, and it couldn’t have been for a sweeter couple! I did Mackinzey and Kyle’s engagement photos over the summer and we met a couple times since then to discuss the wedding and I was so excited to see how everything came together.

I knew this wedding was going to have a lot of special sentimental touches. Both the Kyle and Mackinzey’s dads passed away this year so I really wanted to do everything I could to highlight the things I knew would mean a lot to them. Since Ryan and I got there a little early we were able to snoop around the hall and get some pictures of the details before everything really started.

Of course I wanted to get pictures of the girls getting ready so I followed a bridesmaid and flower girl down the hall to where all the girls were getting ready.

In case you are wondering… there is only a smudge of retouching on this picture. Mackinzey is this gorgeous naturally! (And as always – I love my natural light ;) )

Before we knew it – the time for the ceremony had arrived. Ryan and I got set up in the hall and waited for the procession to begin. When Mackinzey appeared at the end of the aisle, there was a murmur among the crowd. She was absolutely radiant, beaming with excitement and love for the man who waited for her at the other end of the aisle.

And Kyle couldn’t have looked more happy to soon be able to call this stunning woman his wife.

Congrats you two! Ryan and I are so happy for you! I just know that there are years of love and joy ahead of you, and we feel so blessed to have gotten to share in your special day!

—————————————————————————————–

I asked Mackinzey a few questions about her big day. Here’s what she had to share! :)

• Your dress was beautiful!!! You looked absolutely stunning in it! Where did you find it? I’m sure some of my brides would love to know! :)
My dress, as well as the bridesmaid dresses were purchased at David’s Bridal.

• The guys didn’t look too shabby either ;) Where did you find their tuxes?
All tuxes were from Mens wearhouse.
• Is there anyone you’d like to give special credit to for there help putting your special day together?
We would love to thank both of our mothers, without them our day wouldn’t have been possible!! We would like to thank Gloria from Affordable Weddings, she does absolutely amazing work; along with Mac from Prairie Fire DJ. We also can’t forget to thank Ashlee from the Cake Artist’s Studio for making the best cake either of us have ever tasted!!!  And finally, we would like to thank both Stephanie and Ryan/Green Tree Media for capturing our special day in such an artistic way!!
• Is there a detail of your day that you particularly loved or a moment that you will never forget?
We really loved our entrance into the reception and our ceremony; but for us, the most important aspect of our day was spending it with all of our family and loved ones!
• Now that it’s all over, would you do anything differently?
We wouldn’t change a thing!
• Any advice for future brides and grooms?
Enjoy every minute, it all goes by so fast!!
And before we close this post…. here’s a quick picture Ryan took of me with the lovely bride and groom! We were so thrilled to be a part of your big day!

I hope you all enjoyed the images from Kyle and Mackinzey’s wedding! Have a wonderful Monday!

Michael & Carrie’s Engagement Session | Rock Springs, Decatur, IL | Engagement Photography

Monday, November 14th, 2011

I had been looking forward to Michael and Carrie’s engagement session since I met with Carrie back in early September. I love meeting my couples ahead of time and brainstorming ideas for their engagement sessions. Both the meeting and engagement session really give me a feel for who they are and it helps them to see how I work.

Michael and Carrie are so unique and fun and just a gorgeous couple so I knew the session was going to be fun! We had talked about incorporating some old books into the session and BOY! Did I have fun with that. It really helped to create pictures that were unique and very “them”! :) So let’s start with some of their fun book imagery!

(Just a little side-note…. When I look at this picture – I ALWAYS see Chuck Bartowski and Sarah Walker from the television show – Chuck!)

Michael & Carrie 14

I personally LOVE Carrie’s ring! And there is an entire story behind it! Carrie is loves antique and vintage things. So she and Michael were visiting an antique store in Bloomington and found thins ring that she loved but it was yellow gold. They found out that there was a jewelry maker in the shop who could replicate it – so Michael struck up a conversation. Carrie’s ring is a replica of that antique ring she saw. But what adds to her rings beauty is that her mothers wedding ring diamonds are part of her wedding ring and the center stone is her and Michael’s birth stone! (Their birthday is the exact same day!)

Oh my GOSH!!! Carrie – could you be any more gorgeous?!?!

RC & Andrea’s Wedding | Edwardsville, IL | Wedding Photography

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Ryan and I were so excited to be heading down to Edwardsville a couple weeks ago for RC and Andrea’s wedding! We were both looking forward to getting away from everything that was going on here, but more so we were excited to see the bride and groom and their families! Andrea is such a sweetheart and I just knew she was going to look absolutely beautiful on her wedding day. She spent so much time preparing for this big day I was looking forward to seeing how all the details came together! :)

Andrea and RC decided not to see each other before the ceremony so we got some pictures of the guys before, details, and the girls getting ready. Before the ceremony began. I started off snapping some pics of the wedding rings with Andrea’s gorgeous bridal bouquet! (Would you believe her mom put all the flowers together? They were just stunning!

I knew they didn’t want to see each other before, but I thought it would be fun to get at least a couple pictures together. So we found this lovely little hallway where they could stand “next” to each other without seeing each other. :)

RC & Andrea Wedding 5

Time flew by and it was time for the ceremony to start! Andrea could not have looked happier walking down the aisle on her dad’s arm to the man of her dreams!

RC & Andrea! Ryan and I are so happy for you and feel so blessed that we got to be a part of your day and capture your special moments! We hope the day was everything you hoped it would be and that you have many years of love, life, happiness, and laughter together! Take care and stay in touch!

——————————————————————————————————

So I asked Andrea a few questions about her big day! :) Here’s a little bit about the details of her day:

• I loved your dress! It just fit you so perfectly and Ryan absolutely LOVED that there were pockets in it! He just couldn’t get over it! Where did you find it? I’m sure some of my brides would love to know! :)
I got it at David’s Bridal in Springfield. It was very inexpensive compared to some shops I had looked at previously! When the lady brought the dress to me, she didn’t tell me it had pockets until after I tried it on! I loved it!! And they called it the paper dress because the material it was made out of felt like really soft paper :)

• I loved that all your bridesmaids had different styles of dresses – where did you find them?
Since my bridesmaids ranged in size, I didn’t think finding 1 dress to fit them all would be work and I wanted them to feel good about what they were wearing! I took them each to David’s Bridal, starting with the Maid of Honor and let them try on whatever they wanted as long as it was long and satin and could be ordered in my color. Ironically NONE of them picked the same dress :)

• The guys looked quite handsome in their tuxes – where did you go for those?
Long time friend of the family Mr. Bill Waite just expanded Waite’s Dry Cleaners in Decatur and started renting tuxes. His tuxes are very affordable and he was so flexible with getting them early and letting us keep them for almost a week, due the travel time. He and his staff are AWESOME and anyone in Decatur planning a wedding should check him out for tuxes!

• Ryan and I personally love that the guys were wearing chuck taylors! Who’s idea were those?
It was actually my idea. I brought it up to RC and at first he was a little skeptical but once I showed him pictures, he loved it. We bought them all for the groomsmen as their gifts…they were a little shocked but loved them also :)

• Is there anyone you’d like to give special credit to for there help putting your special day together?
My mom and sister!! My mom did all of the decorations, flower arrangement, center pieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, she bought all the vases, she came down many time to meet with the vendors. She was truly amazing. Also my sister, who lives 5 hours away from me and is a full-time student but managed to squeeze me in! She made all of the Save-the-dates, invitations, programs, labels for the hot sauce favors, etc. She took many hours to help and get everything perfect for us! Also my bridesmaids, Corinne and Heather, helped put the placecards together and the hot sauce labels on. We spent many hours scraping hot sauce labels off!!

• Is there a detail of your day that you particularly loved or a moment that you will never forget?
The detail I loved was all the little details that everyone keeps talking about. Our family and friends were so impressed with the placecard pictures, the personalized place cards, the favor, the candy station, everything! They keep talking about it to this day! I will never forget all of the dancing, especially our first dance and they father daughter dance. My dad NEVER dances and he did for me :) And RC is not a big fan of PDA and he was so loving and happy!! Makes me wanna cry thinking about it ;)
• Now that it’s all over, would you do anything differently?
Everyone tells you not to stress and how fast it goes by! I wish I wouldn’t have stressed out so badly! Towards the end, it wasn’t fun planning anymore! I would tell all brides to SERIOUSLY not stress! The things that come up, you can’t help and can’t do anything about so don’t bother trying to fix it! And I wish so badly I wouldn’t have been so nervous before I walked down the isle because I wish I could of watched all the girls and family walk down the isle, through the window. There were a lot of things that were a blur that day because everything went so fast!
• Any advice for future brides and grooms?
The advice I give is to ENJOY everything. RC and I had had a lot of bad luck the week before the wedding! My hair stylist forgot to book our appointment, RC got in a wreck and then got food poisoning…it was crazy! We both became very crabby a couple days before the wedding which wasn’t fun! So don’t worry about it, just enjoy the whole process! Lastly, pay attention to everything at the wedding and reception, so you don’t look back and forget all the fun things that happened :) )

And before we close this post – here’s a quick pic Ryan took of me with this awesome couple! Love them tons! So glad I got to be there!

I hope everyone enjoyed the pics and that you have an awesome Wednesday! I’ll try to get another post ready for Friday! See you then!

Cole & Brooke Brownback’s Wedding | Buxton Farms, Sullivan, IL | Wedding Photography

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

It was a  bright and sunny Saturday afternoon as Ryan and I drove down the road to Buxton Farms for Brooke and Cole’s October wedding. This was Buxton Farms first wedding, and the couldn’t have had a more perfect couple to break in the venue. I left Ryan with Cole to get him prepped and ready for his and Brooke’s First Look. (And if you’ve been to my blog before – you’ll know that I absolutely love First Looks!)

Brooke looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress! Her mom and aunt helped her get her dress on, finish putting up her hair, and making sure every detail was in place.

I asked Brooke some questions about her big day, but I waited too long to send them to her. I should hopefully have her answers shortly, so check back here to see what she had to say about her dress, the bridesmaids, dresses, tuxes, and memorable moments.

Erin & Dan’s Trash the Dress Session | Mt. Zion, IL

Friday, October 14th, 2011

I was really excited when Erin emailed me about doing a Trash the Dress session with her and Dan. Erin and I went to high school together and I was super excited to see her again and to do my first Trash the Dress (although we didn’t really trash her dress).

Erin looked absolutely gorgeous in her wedding dress. (Two years later and she still fits in it – not something I can say). We took some super fun images of her and her handsome man at the Four E’s Tree Farm in Mt. Zion. It’s Dan’s families homestead and business and it was an absolutely beautiful place to do photos of this gorgeous couple.

Okay – enough of my rambling! Enjoy Erin and Dan’s pics!

Justin & Alex’s Wedding | Decatur, IL | Wedding Photography

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

It was a beautiful sunny fall day when Ryan and I arrived at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, IL for Justin & Alex’s wedding. Everyone was there, ready and excited for the day and festivities. I got some quick shots of the girls while they were getting ready and took some detail photos and before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony to begin!

Justin & Alex Wedding1

This service was a challenge to photograph because Fr. Joe preferred us not to use flash during the service and to stay towards the back once the procession was over. But we got some lovely pictures of a very beautiful service. And can I just say – Alex! You looked absolutely stunning!

• Your dress was beautiful! It looked like it was made for just for you! Where did you find it?
My dress was from David’s Bridal in Champaign.

• The guys’ suits were cool with the embroidery on the back of the vests. Where did you get those?
The guys suits were from Seno’s in Decatur.

• I loved the girls’ dresses with those colored sashes! Where did you find those?
We had the sashes made, I bought the fabric from JoAnn’s, measured each girl around the bust and from the back of the bust to the back of the knee and we had a friend of ours Glenda make them for us.

• Is there anyone you’d like to credit who helped out with your wedding?
My mom did a lot of the work, along with Kaitie, my sister in law!

• What was the most memorable part of your day?
I think just the whole day coming together and everyone doing their job correctly was the best part!

• Did you have a favorite detail from your wedding?
I loved all the colors we were able to incorporate and work together. They blended perfectly!

• Do you have any advice for future brides and grooms?
Do not wait until 3 months before the wedding to start planning! You will go crazy, also get all of your final appointments done at least a month and a half early and then you will have less to worry about 2 weeks before the wedding!

• If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would do differently?
I wouldnt do anything differently at all!

• Are you guys going anywhere for your honeymoon?
We may go to New York at some point in the next year for our honeymoon but for the time being justin cant get off work!

Alex and Justin – Thank you so much for including us in your special day! We felt so blessed to be there on your wedding day and help you capture all your memories! We wish you many years of love, fun, and joy together!

Here’s what Tara had to say about her and Eric’s special day! :)

• I loved your dress! Where did you find it?
I got my dress at castaway bridal! It was a new dress but on sale for 99.00 because it was “last years dress” I had marinas bridal add the sash and she had to fix the length that was it.

• The bridesmaids’ dresses were so cute and flattering! Where did you get them from?
The bridesmaid dresses I got on eBay! Totally inexpensive! The little girls dresses came from Von Maur!

• Eric looked quite handsome in his suit. Where did he go for that?
Eric got his suit at the brass horn and he got all the guys shirts and ties off of overstock.com!

• Is there anyone you would like to give credit to for helping with the wedding?
I really give credit to Eric for helping me with the wedding we did all the work planning and paying! but my maid of honor helped me keep my sanity!

• Is there a detail of your day that you particularly loved?
The day went so fast but I will never forget how beautiful it was outside and seeing so many people there to share our special day with us!

• Now that it’s all over, would you change anything?
If I could change one thing it would be TO NOT WEAR MY BRA!!!!! During the ceremony!  :\  Other then that I would not do a darn thing different it was perfect.

• Any advice for future brides and/or grooms?
Finally if I could give on piece of advise to future bride/grooms it would be to enjoy and cherish every moment of that day because it goes by so so fast! People told me that would happen and I now know exactly what they meant!

Congratulations Eric & Tara! We are so happy for you two! We wish you many years of happiness together!

Kyle & Mackinzey Engagement Session | Engagement Photography | Sullivan, IL

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

I met Kyle and Mackinzey a week or so ago to discuss their wedding and I knew right away that I was going to love this couple. So I was excited to meet the two of them at Bo Woods Campground in Sullivan, IL last week for their engagement session. It was a warm day, but we had tons of fun wandering around the grounds and utilizing the beautiful scenery.

It’s hard to believe looking at this gorgeous couple, but these two have been together for eleven years. They met in high school. Mackinzey was a freshman and Kyle was a senior, who met through mutual friends at a restaurant one night. About a year later they officially started dating. And now eleven years later, Kyle proposed to the girl of his dreams, and they are planning on tying the knot on November 11, this year.

So enjoy this sneak peek of one of my favorite engagement sessions this year!
